Online MSc Global Finance admissions

Lancaster University seeks applicants who are already part of the workforce yet eager to sharpen their financial expertise and stay competitive in a fast-evolving market.

To meet the entry requirements, you must have a 2:1 Honours degree (UK or equivalent) in finance, accounting, economics, a STEM subject or another business-related subject, with a minimum of two years’ professional work experience in any field. 

That said, applicants with a 2:2 Honours degree and three or more years of relevant work experience are strongly encouraged to apply, and applicants without previous degree-level studies but with both five or more years of relevant work experience and existing professional qualifications will be considered.

Lancaster University’s online master of finance curriculum is designed to accelerate the careers of a broad range of professionals by combining critical financial theory with the practical skills needed to lead the future of business.

Module descriptions

  • The aim of this module is to equip you with an understanding of key aspects of a firm’s financial strategy, such as ways of raising capital, valuing financial and real assets, trade-offs associated with capital structure choices, managerial incentives, risk management and corporate restructuring.

  • The object of this module is to develop an understanding of the workings of macroeconomic policy and to familiarise participants with the interpretation of macroeconomic and monetary data, and their impact on financial markets. Participants will gain an understanding of how to evaluate macroeconomic indicators, currency markets and geopolitical risks and gain an understanding of emerging-market strategies, monetary policy and global trade.

  • The aim of this module is to equip you with key concepts in sustainability finance, environmental, social and governance considerations for corporations. You will also gain an understanding of approaches to measuring, analysing and reporting business performance.

  • The aim of this module is to equip you with an understanding of financial models and tools used for investment decision-making. You will also gain an understanding of the basics of alternative investments and gain an advanced understanding of mutual funds.

  • This module aims to provide you with an understanding of the use of blockchain and cryptocurrencies. You will also gain an understanding of applications of machine learning and textual analysis, and the importance of cybersecurity in finance.
